  • Description of Chelsea Gallery Diner

    - Feb 16, 2008 1:42:10 PM

Some of the food here is amazing (eg the pancakes, which are the size of a small child) and some is just good, but they do have free coffee refills and that awesome New York diner atmosphere.

  • Description of Spa Belles

    - Feb 16, 2008 1:38:08 PM

A tiny bit random in terms of cures offered (ear candling anyone? oxygen therapy...any takers?) but locals swear by it, as evidenced by the testimonial letters out front. Don't miss their scarily sophisticated pedicure soaking chairs. And exposed brick. Only in New York would spas have exposed brick!

  • Description of Passerby

    - Nov 2, 2007 3:43:50 PM

Part-gallery space, part-lounge, part-dance floor. The most instantly striking feature in the addition to Gavin Brown's way-west gallery space is the "Saturday Night Fever"-style floor, complete with flashing colored squares. And if you thought that John Travolta or the Bee Gees were the inspiration behind that one, then you've obviously never heard of Piotr Uklanski, the man behind the concept behind the floor, which was built by Brown himself. The space is small and self-consciously unfinished, but makes good use of confusing mirrors to give the impression of space.
