Plus, it's a stone's throw from the Macworld offices on 2nd St. This French café has paid a lot of attention to detail, right down to the French commercial art on the walls and the tiny round café tables, and, bien sûr, Orangina at the ready. The quiche, when available, is excellent, otherwise the croque mademoiselle is a steady favorite of mine. What could be better than a tasty egg, cheese and ham sandwich with a small salad to go with it? Make sure also to savor the free chocolate truffles that come with the bill. The onion and chive pockets are outstanding, and the cha shu bao (pufffed pork dumplings) are quite good as well. If there isn't any room to sit (there's a total of about six seats in the whole place), get your order to go and head down toward 1st on Mission St. Go up the stairs to the right (same side of the street as Tea Garden) and you'll find a nice office plaza to sit in, with tables and some small grass areas. Either you're hungry and you came for a sausage, but you realized that Rosamunde's soda selection isn't doing it for you (they do have the ever-elusive Cel-Rey, though, but that doesn't go well with anything besides a Jewish deli sandwich), or you ended up at Toronado and drunk yourself to the point where you got hungry. Either way, this tandem is truly brilliant. And should you find yourself at Rosamunde's on a Tuesday at lunch, order up the hand-made burger. It's the only time they have it. Other than that, the merguez and beer sausages are among my favorites, and Toronado has approximately 8,000 beers available, and one of the employees is a semi-surly Scottish guy named Stewart who has big tattoos, so that adds to its general appeal.
